VIO-LENCE – BODIES ON BODIES – METAL REWIND

violence band

Today we take a trip back to 1988 to a song by the San Francisco Bay Area band Vio-lence off their debut album “Eternal Nightmare” for the song “Bodies on Bodies.”

The lineup for Vio-lence for this album includes Sean Killian – vocals, Rob Flynn and Phil Demmel – guitars, Dean Dell – bass and Perry Strickland – drums.

Vio-lence broke up in 1993, but the band reunited to play the Thrash of the Titans Benefit for Chuck Billy and Chuck Schuldiner in 2001 and re-released “Eternal Nightmare” as a two disc set with rare tracks as well as a live concert. The reunion was short-lived and after playing a few shows, the band disbanded in 2003. Recently they have reunited with some original as well as new members and are currently planning shows for later this year in New York City.  There are also some shows planned in their native San Francisco with Testament and Death Angel in the near future.

Happy Friday Metalheads! Today we’re going to take a trip back to 1988 to the third studio album by Overkill called “Under the Influence” released on Megaforce Records.

Produced by Alex Perialas, “Under the Influence” reached #142 on the Billboard 200 chart and remained there for 12 weeks. The track “Hello From The Gutter” was released as a single and the video was played in heavy rotation on MTV’s Headbanger’s Ball while the band toured constantly in support of the album. The lineup for “Under the Influence” includes: Bobby ‘Blitz’ Ellsworth – vocals, Bobby Gustafson – guitars, D.D. Verni – bass and Sid Falck – drums. The track listing is as follows:

1) Shred
2) Never Say Never
3) Hello from the Gutter
4) Mad Gone World
5) Brainfade
6) Drunken Wisdom
7) End of the Line
8) Head First
9) Overkill III (Under the Influence)

Overkill has gone through several lineup changes and singer Bobby ‘Blitz’ has had a few health issues over the years but has rebounded from them.  The band released their 19th album this past week called “The Wings of War” and will be headlining the 2019 Killfest Tour as well as a tour of North America with Death Angel and Act of Defiance in the spring.
