TESTAMENT – THE NEW ORDER – METAL REWIND

Happy Friday Metalheads! Today we take a trip back to 1988 to the second album by Testament called “The New Order.”

This album showcased Testament’s sound and brought them to the forefront of thrash metal. Produced by Alex Perialas, the album includes a cover of Aerosmith’s “Nobody’s Fault” and features Chuck Billy on vocals, Alex Skolnick and Eric Peterson guitars, Greg Christian on bass and Louie Clemente on drums.

The track listing for “The New Order” is as follows:

  • Eerie Inhabitants
  • The New Order
  • Trial by Fire
  • Into the Pit
  • Hypnosis
  • Disciples of the Watch
  • The Preacher
  • Nobody’s Fault
  • A Day of Reckoning
  • Musical Death (A Dirge)

“Hypnosis” and “Musical Death (A Dirge)” are instrumental tracks and “Into the Pit” and “Nobody’s Fault” were released as singles and the band shot videos for the songs as well. “The Preacher” was also released as a single and guitarist Eric Peterson came up with the cover art concept.

OVERKILL – UNDER THE INFLUENCE – METAL REWIND

Happy Friday Metalheads! Today we’re going to take a trip back to 1988 to the third studio album by Overkill called “Under the Influence” released on Megaforce Records.

Produced by Alex Perialas, “Under the Influence” reached #142 on the Billboard 200 chart and remained there for 12 weeks. The track “Hello From The Gutter” was released as a single and the video was played in heavy rotation on MTV’s Headbanger’s Ball while the band toured constantly in support of the album. The lineup for “Under the Influence” includes: Bobby ‘Blitz’ Ellsworth – vocals, Bobby Gustafson – guitars, D.D. Verni – bass and Sid Falck – drums. The track listing is as follows:

Overkill has gone through several lineup changes and singer Bobby ‘Blitz’ has had a few health issues over the years but has rebounded from them.  The band released their 19th album this past week called “The Wings of War” and will be headlining the 2019 Killfest Tour as well as a tour of North America with Death Angel and Act of Defiance in the spring.
